EBBASA
New breeders and owners of Boerboels quiet often ask me the question: Why EBBASA? There are currently three Boerboel Associations in South Africa and many more in the rest of the world, and to the uniformed person, who isn't currently associated with any of the association or just with a local organisation, they all look pretty similar.
I therefore think it is time to spell out what makes EBBASA different:
- EBBASA is the ELITE Boerboel Breeders Association. The Association is therefore not a home for the breeder who is not interested in adhering to certain higher standards.
- EBBASA has a Code of Ethics that all our members have to adhere to. The Association also actually acts if members do not adhere to its Code and has disciplined members and even terminated membership in extreme cases.
- EBBASA has its own Breed Standard and will soon implement an appraisal system for adult dogs that is free from personal bias and rewards the exceptional features of the dog whilst severely penalising (and clearly identifying) the faults.
- EBBASA is internationally recognised and by far exceeds in numbers the overseas membership of any other Boerboel Breeders Organisation.
- EBBASA is not interested in personal or organisational politics, who you are or where your dog was bred. As long as you can adhere to our entry criteria, your dog will be appraised fairly.
- EBBASA is striving to work with any other Boerboel Association for the benefit of the breed. As long as the other Association has reputable measures to ensure quality, we will discuss cooperation to benefit the Boerboel.
- EBBASA truly belongs to its members and member input and participation is nurtured.
- EBBASA currently has representatives in South Africa, Swaziland, Botswana, Mozambique, Angola, and many other African states, the Netherlands, Belgium, England, Scotland, Denmark, Portugal, Russia, Canada, USA, Australia and Brazil.
