On this page we thought you would like to know what we at Sandaharr have done so far for the good of the breed
within the UK over the last few years.This encompasses health and improving the genepool.

	First breeder in the UK to create their own line,i.e a Sandaharr bred dog being mated to another Sandaharr bred dog.In this way we have a tighter control on our own health database and can start to see what dogs are producing what traits rather than using guesswork and prayers.
	First and only breeder in the UK to breed and own the top appraised dog and bitch with both the SABT and EBBASA in the same year,2008.See Sandaharr Morlich and Sandaharr Etive,(Bronson and Ayda).We now only register and appraise with EBBASA.
	First and only Boerboel breeder in the UK to breed 8 out of the top 9 dogs at an SABT appraisal.
	First and possibly only Boerboel breeder in the UK to import frozen semen from South African dogs.
	First and only Boerboel breeder in the UK to import frozen semen from Australian dogs.
	First and only Boerboel breeder in the UK to fly in a European veterinary reproductive specialist,(Nico Fernhout of Pitlochry kennels) with a collection of fresh,chilled semen for the A.I. of our girl Razzy to create the first litter of Boerboels in Scotland.
	First Boerboel breeder to have artificially inseminated their bitches using all 3 methods of insemination,Norwegian catheter,transcervical and surgically,(suitability for each method dependant on the bitch in question) over the years with aforementioned frozen semen.
	First Boerboel breeder to personally microchip each and every puppy in our litters.
	First Boerboel breeder to routinely DNA profile all our own breeding stock and every pup within a litter,all records held by the KC of Great Britain.
	First Boerboel breeder to routinely eye test their breeding dogs under the BVA system of eye screening tests available including as well,the gonioscopic test.
	First Boerboel breeder to import a KUSA registered dog (Quo Vadis Asterix) from South Africa.(South Africa's own Kennel Club).

As you will see from the above it is very important to us to improve the genepool of the breed through importing semen and we plan to continue this with frozen semen coming from the US this year for use in 2010 and of course we have the new semen coming in from Australia next year too. We are also in a position now where our dogs are of such a good quality that we are exporting semen worldwide to other Boerboel breeders. New health issues are being raised all the time and here at Sandaharr we are aware that the more dogs we breed then the more problems we shall see. Unlike some breeders we don't hide these and we don't NOT talk about them, issues must be addressed and improvements made and if necessary dogs removed from the small genepool we have here in the UK. We are also in contact with Quirine Stassen in the Netherlands to find out more about a potential epilepsy risk within the breed, more shall be added about this in our new health pages.
